Guess what October is....

If you remember, back in June I informed you all that it was Adopt-A-Cat month. And then I adopted a cat!

Well, October is Dinosaur month. I'm going to adopt a dinosaur!!

Ok, maybe I won't adopt a dinosaur. Too much hassle. ;)

But, I do think dinosaurs are awesome. Maybe I will just watch a Jurassic Park Marathon instead!
And of course the new season of my new show addiction The Walking Dead starts this month!
Season 3 was released to Netflix and I finished it in about 3 days! I'm excited for the new season to start but I'm not sure if I will be able to handle watching it so late at night!
EEK!
Well, good luck to all of you in keeping up with The Walking Dead, the dinosaurs, and halloween!
Remember the clay-mation movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas"?

Well, here is the opening song "This is Halloween"

Don't forget to watch other great October classics like Hocus Pocus, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Beetlejuice!

Stay safe, my friends!

Warning! I'm about to whine and complain!

Well, I didn't want to end up complaining about silly meaningless things on here but it seems I can't help myself today.

I'm a little lonely. Technically I have only been single for about a year and a half, but I miss being in a relationship. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad I broke up with my ex. It wasn't the best match. And I don't want to sound desperate or anything. I have had a couple offers for dates that I had to turn down because I just wasn't interested in those guys in that way.
It's not that I miss the flowers, gifts, free meals, and things. That stuff was great. But what I really miss is the company of someone close to you. That you can be honest and open up to and know they won't see you any differently. Someone who loves to spend time with you and will go to a movie they have no interest in because they want to be with you. Some places I just can't go to on my own because I'm a girl and it wouldn't exactly be safe to be out at night by myself. Or to go to some stranger's home to buy a cheap craigslist item. That is not something I would recommend doing on your own. And yeah, I'm sure my mom would love to do all of those things with me if I asked her, but I don't always want to go with my mom to a concert at a brewery. She isn't about that scene. Obviously I know that even if I had a boyfriend I wouldn't get to go to all of the places I want or do all the things I want. I just want the person to be here for me to ask and have a chance at it.

Alright, alright. Enough of that for now. Again, not desperate, just a little lonely sometimes.

So! Let's pick things back up with some music, eh?

This is Queen singing Somebody to Love.

Now is the time for a zombie video!

Haha, it would be a good zombie video time, such as Family Force 5 from a previous post, because I have been away from here for so long and now I have resurrected to post about cats again!!! Ahahahahaha!!! :D

Ok, just a little bit about cats.
I finally adopted one of my own! Actually I adopted her way back at the end of June but ya'll didn't know yet so I figured it was time to tell the online world!

Her name is Leona (as in spanish for female lion, not the singer) and she is a beautiful, grey and white striped approx. 2 yr old. She seems to mostly like me, when she isn't attacking my feet as I sleep! ;)

Here is a seemingly adequate transition pic between cats and zombies...
So zombies!
I have recently fallen for The Walking Dead. I never understood why it was such a huge hit until I decided to try it out on Netflix and said Oh My Gosh! What is going to happen?!?! So now I have to know. So far I have only seen the first two seasons on Netflix but I hear the third season will be added in the next couple of weeks! No spoilers please :)

So, let's go back, way back to the days of the awesome Audio Adrenaline!!

Here is Some Kind Of Zombie by Audio Adrenaline

Cats, Part II

So I know I already went on and on about cats and how I want to get one but there are pros and cons and what not BUT June is Adopt-A-Cat Month!
So, come on! This could be a sign to me that it is time to ADOPT! A cat, of course ;)
Especially since I actually have a job now, :)
I really wanted to save up for a car first, though.
Oh man, there I go second guessing again!
I just don't want to make a mistake, but who would want to make mistakes! Sheesh. My problems are nothing new and nothing major. I am so blessed and can't even see it!
Ok, so either I will be posting next about my new cat or how I was too chicken to pull that trigger. I am being a "scaredy cat" if you will, teehee :)
Ok, in other news! I want to give you some music, of course. One of the cds I have been able to listen to on my new commute to work has been Between the Trees, more specifically the album Spain. So here is a track off that album for your listening pleasure! :)

Artist: Between the Trees
Song: We Can Try
Fav Lyric: "I know things aren't quite like what they used to be. Different faces, different places. yeah, we can try, oh yeah, we can try."

The first day of the rest of my life! (haha)

Woah, sorry about that hiatus I seem to of taken. I didn't even realize it had been that long!

Well, I have some fantastic news, I have a job! :D Upon hearing this I told everyone it was the first day of the rest of my life! This will be my first real, professional job. I am working at the library as a page. It is the entry level position but this company likes to promote from within so I hope to be with them for a very long time!

In other news, I have acclimated to my new home pretty well. I have really been enjoying my friends and still get to visit those I left behind! :)

Well, from my last post you could probably guess what album today's song choice is coming from. Yup, JT.

Artist: Justin Timberlake
Song: That Girl
Fav Lyrics: "We didn't have to run, I knew it was love from a mile away,
But I had to catch you, running through my mind all day baby."

To All My Single Ladies (and Gents)

Hello! I know I missed music monday and tune-age tuesday so this is just a regular post that happens to include music ;) and it will also address the title in a little bit, bear with me.

So I ordered a cd from Amazon on April 7th and have been anxiously awaiting it ever since. The delivery estimate kept telling me it would be here on the 29th basically 3 weeks after ordering it! I wasn't very excited about that but I kept hoping it would be early. So it finally arrived today! And guess what cd it is? JT 20/20 Experience! Don't judge. That's what this blog is for, posting my feelings free of judgments :)

I also fell in love with the song from the "Ready For Love" commercials. I looked it up on youtube and now I have to share it with the world! That is what I dedicate to all my single ladies and gents. There isn't exactly an abundance of lyrics in the song but what is there is spot on.

Artist: Amy Stroup
Song: Hold Onto Hope Love
Fav Lyric: Hold onto hope, love
I've searched high and low for you
For you
Each day gets closer
So hold on stronger to me
And you

I really like this song because it is about hope. There seems to be so much negativity in this world, especially lately. So hold onto hope. Whether it is hope in finding love or hope in anything. We could all use a little more hope in our lives. :)

So I send this to all of you, whether in a relationship or not, fans of JT or not, music lover or not, keep your head up and know that you are loved <3

Rainy Awakening

So I love the rain. It is my favorite type of weather. I wasn't expecting it to rain last night or this morning but apparently I was wrong. I woke up thinking my arms were tingling, then my face felt tingly. It was not just tingling. I was being splashed by a dripping ceiling! It was about 5:30 am so I wasn't exactly ready to be awake but I wasn't about to sleep next to the growing puddle on my bed. I threw some towels on it, then an empty trash can and decided it would be better to take my chances on the couch. I couldn't help feeling like I should do something more about this leak in my ceiling and, though I didn't want to bother her, I woke my mom and told her what had happened. After she gave me a much bigger bucket to catch the water, we decided to try and get a bit more sleep. My mom had been exhausted the night before and so fell right back to sleep. I was not so lucky. I decided to just begin my day as is. So I think the landlord will be here to fix my ceiling tomorrow and I will probably sleep on the couch tonight. Don't worry though, I still love the rain! It has been beautiful all day, rainy, cloudy, and cool. :)

So it is monday, and with a new week comes a new music selection! So when I was suddenly awakened this morning I ended up with Jason Mraz in my head. This is not the song that was in my head but it is a great song nonetheless.

Song: You And I Both

Tune-age Tuesday?

Hello all! I apologize if it has seemed like I was neglecting you, but if you read the last post you will know that it was just a crazy past few weeks. March 10-16th I had to pack my suitcase for New York and also my entire bedroom to prepare for the move. March 17-22nd I was out of state working hard with 17 other wonderful people doing Hurricane Sandy Relief. March 23-24th were the big move days. March 25-29th was working our way out of the boxes and into our new home (crazy amount of stuff we had to fit in here). March 30-31st were both Easter celebrations. And yesterday I finally made it out of the house for the sole purpose of being outdoors and chatting with a friend. It was a good change of pace after that crazy March!

Alas, I have missed a couple of Music Mondays. For this, I am sorry. I will, however, bring you a Tune-age Tuesday to make up for it! (Yes, I made that up)

Today I bring you Taylor Swift. No wait, a Taylor Swift Cover! This cover is absolutely amazing. Every voice in here is breathtaking and how can you not love the strings. Violins make everything better in my opinion.
Song: I Knew You Were Trouble
Cover Artists: Chester See, Tyler Ward, Lindsey Stirling
Original Artist: Taylor Swift

March Madness!

This is a busy March! I recently noticed that every saturday and sunday this month has something marked for that day. Not to mention whatever stuff I have going on during the week. So this weekend we celebrated my birthday part 2! My family went to Hollywood to see Oz the Great and Powerful at the El Capitan Theater which was amazing! Cool theater, interesting props and wardrobes in the lobby, awesome magic show before, and a funny and entertaining movie! This weekend was also my cousin's baby shower. We all had a lot of fun and ooh-ed and awe-ed at her pregnant belly and my other cousin's newborn baby. Precious!

Well, this sunday I will be leaving for a 6 day trip to Brooklyn, New York to help with Hurricane Sandy Relief! I am so excited to go to the east coast, help as much as I can, and hopefully make some small amount of difference. If you want to read more about it and get updates check my fundraiser page "here". I leave sunday, return friday, and then my family and I are moving the next day! That means my room must be fully packed before I leave this week! Luckily I have already started but we are getting down to crunch time here and I hope it all gets done in time! :o
No worries ;)

And of course, today is #MusicMonday :)
What do I have in store for you today? Hmmm.
Artist: MUMFORD AND SONS
Song: I Will Wait
Fav. Lyric: "So I'll be bold
As well as strong,
And use my head alongside my heart.
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes,
A tethered mind freed from the lies."

Really the entire lyrics are fantastic. ;)

Birthdays and Zombies

So guess what... Go ahead guess! .... You aren't very good at guessing, are you?
OK, I will tell you! It was my birthday yesterday! :D
So how do I feel now? Days older! Haha.
Well, my family came over yesterday. It was a pretty chill day at the house. We played some games, ate mom's delicious chicken and rice, and enjoyed some Marie Callender's desserts! (No ice cream)
We had a chill day here yesterday because on Sunday we are going to see Oz The Great and Powerful in Hollywood! I'm pretty excited about it, I can't wait!

So it also appears to be Monday again. You know what that means.... #MusicMondays
You guys are in luck. This week we have FF5!
Artist: Family Force 5
Title: Zombie
Fav. Lyric: "Not dead, undead, a new creation
Zombie regeneration
Fresh flesh, but I don't need a headshot"

So here you go. I hope you enjoy this #MusicMonday :)

This song is quickly climbing my personal charts due to it's greatness!

Because none of it was ever worth the risk.
Well you are the only exception..."

Lent/Princess Bride

Lent is upon us! For those of you who don't know what Lent is let me 'splain.
No, there is too much. Let me sum up.
(haha, that is a reference to the movie The Princess Bride. I have included a little clip for your viewing pleasure!)
Anyway, Lent is the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter (approx. 40 days) where Catholics generally give something up whether it be a food/drink or a thing/activity. For example, some people have given up Facebook, tv, all social media, or sweets, soda, carbs, etc. This is not limited to Catholics. It can be observed by anyone! Just know what it is meant to symbolize. This time of fasting from something is meant to symbolize the 40 days Jesus Christ spent fasting in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-2). You are generally supposed to give up something that would be difficult to go without so I have decided to give up ice cream. Yikes! Considering how much ice cream we eat at my house and that my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks this is going to be tough! But hey, it's supposed to be!
So I encourage you to think about the meaning of Lent this season and consider why you give things up during this season.
Now for the clip from The Princess Bride I promised you all...

Ice Cream or Cookie Dough?

In my efforts to keep this blog from becoming a place to rant or whine about silly little problems that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things I have been putting this off. However, I can't help but let it out just a little bit.
So Thursday is coming up, what's a single girl to do?
I am trying to find a way to get out of the house because sitting with your parents watching tv all night is a sad way to spend Valentine's day. However, I don't have any plans that would take me out of the house for that day. There are plenty of events happening this weekend but that's not really what I am looking for. I don't necessarily think I need a real date for the night, just something to do for a little while. A reason to get dressed up, maybe? A way to not sit at home eating ice cream alone.
I don't know, maybe I will eat cookie dough instead...  ;)

Cats! (not the musical)

So lately I have been thinking I would like to get a cat. This could be for a couple reasons:
  1. Our cat of more than 15 yrs recently died.
  2. I feel a little lonely sometimes and think a puppy would be a little more work than I would like to take on right now. (Btw, I am not against dogs either.)
  3. I see all of these pictures and funny stories about my friends and their cats and think "How fun!"
However, I feel hesitant to actually acquire my own cat for a few more reasons:
  1. One day when I move out I would probably be taking this cat with me and would subsequently have to pay more for pets in an apartment and would be limited to those apartments that allow them.
  2. I fear I could end up as a crazy cat lady. Just me and my ten cats for company! ;)
  3. What if this is like a phase that will pass and then I end up with a cat and no longer have the desire to keep it. That's just unfair to the cat.
So now I am left with a decision that I do not know how to make and will probably just continue to ignore and put off for as long as I can. If you can offer any advice to me, please do!

In the meantime, here are some inspiring cat pictures!

Naive Thieves - "Grindin'"

So I have been noticing lately that I have been grinding my teeth a lot. This is probably a bad thing. Anyway, every time I realize what I am doing I think of this song. So I have shared it with you and hope you enjoy!

Check out Naive Thieves for more great music :)

First things first

Hello Cyber World!
I have decided to take that step into full blogging! I hope to use this as an outlet for my ideas, funny finds, honest opinions, and random questions that don't necessarily need an answer. I may not get things rolling very quickly or get it just right at first but I will be working on it! Expect to find cute things, funny things, delicious things, nerdy things, awesome things, delightful things, thoughtful things, and other things! I apologize for grammatical errors or opinions that don't match your own but I won't be taking it down. The purpose of the blog is to have an honest outlet. And a randomness outlet! :)
Here is a funny thing to get us started:
