Lent/Princess Bride

Lent is upon us! For those of you who don't know what Lent is let me 'splain.
No, there is too much. Let me sum up.
(haha, that is a reference to the movie The Princess Bride. I have included a little clip for your viewing pleasure!)
Anyway, Lent is the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter (approx. 40 days) where Catholics generally give something up whether it be a food/drink or a thing/activity. For example, some people have given up Facebook, tv, all social media, or sweets, soda, carbs, etc. This is not limited to Catholics. It can be observed by anyone! Just know what it is meant to symbolize. This time of fasting from something is meant to symbolize the 40 days Jesus Christ spent fasting in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-2). You are generally supposed to give up something that would be difficult to go without so I have decided to give up ice cream. Yikes! Considering how much ice cream we eat at my house and that my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks this is going to be tough! But hey, it's supposed to be!
So I encourage you to think about the meaning of Lent this season and consider why you give things up during this season.
Now for the clip from The Princess Bride I promised you all...
